Step 3:  Do I Qualify for a Home Loan?

In order to determine if you qualify for a Mortgage Loan, you may apply with your local Credit Union, Banking Institution, or a Mortgage Broker.

​Step 5:  Lease-To-Own Programs

If, for whatever reason, you are not yet qualified to purchase immediately, Lease-To-Own, also known as Rent-To-Own, or Lease With The Option To Buy, allows buyers to get into their dream homes sooner.  However, these programs also have qualification requirements, specifically Credit, Savings, & Income (think, CSI). House hunting can be fun for some clients, and a nightmare for others. It all depends how specific, prepared, realistic, and organized you are. 
Below are some tips to make this process as smooth as possible:
  • Begin now to prepare a list ahead of time of your "must-haves", and what you might be able to compromise on. Realize that the market is very competitive, and you will rarely get EVERY single thing you want in a home.
  • Be as specific as you can with regard to location, school district, city, zip code, etc.  It is no fun driving around the entire metro area from county to county, with no idea of where you want to live.  This will be very frustrating for you, the buyer.  If you are not sure where you want to live yet, then pause the home buying process and begin researching, driving to those counties and cities.
  • Check neighborhood amenities
  • Check crime statistics
  • Map the distance to your employers
  • Check school rankings
